Did you realise that Apple have a team of people scouring newspapers and the on-line world seeing how people give their product away – which they don’t really like! In fact, while they realise the power of their product and their brand, they prefer their products not to be given away as it ‘cheapens’ their product.

chantalTop 5: PT Business Tips on Cash Flow from Chantal

Last month in our PT Webinar, Simon & Dan from Ezypay share the following cash flow tips:

    • Creating projections/forecasts is easier when you have 6 months worth of data to work from.
    • Keep track of your client records and keep track of what your average client rate is.
    • 80% or more of your payments should be a ‘recurring payment’  (rather than Lump Sum).
    • A sale is not a sale until cash is collected.
    • Action:  Be upfront with your clients  - ask for what you want.

Your Facebook Page Influences Potential Members

Facebook Twitter Digg Stumbleupon Google Bookmarks

This month I received a great report from e-Marketer.com and it shared that the April 2011 “S-Net: The Impact of Social Media” study by ROI Research found that 60% of US social network users were at least somewhat likely to take action when a friend posted something about a product, service, company or brand on a social media site.

On Facebook, 53% of respondents said the top activities would be purchasing the brand or company’s product and recommending the company or product. For Twitter, the top activities were talking about the company or product (61%), recommending the company or product (59%) and purchasing the brand or company’s product (58%).

Fans or followers of a brand are influenced by what they see from these company accounts, but they are also influenced by what their friends say about brands or companies that they don’t necessarily follow. It’s another area for marketers to focus on—the reach they have and how their brand fans may influence their own friends and followers.

To find out more about a return on investment for your social media presence, come to FitnessBiz 2011.

Will Google + duplicate everything Facebook has and what new features will Facebook launch to stay ahead of their competitor. Whatever the result the winner will be us! These two will battle out for supremacy and we can enjoy all the new features.

MindnBody Biz: Save Business Leader Burnout

Lets face it; burnout is the “dirty little secret” in the Fitness Industry.  Everyone has experienced it, but no one willingly puts up his or her hand and says, “I feel burned out!”

So what can you do when you’re feeling physically and emotionally drained?  How can you deal with the overwhelm and stress that sometimes appears when you’re working early mornings, late nights and most weekends?

Having been burned out physically and emotionally quite a few times myself, I know the 5 following things work:

    1. Get rid of your list: Give yourself a few weeks off writing the “to-do” lists that you place all over your house and office.  Why?  Because this act alone is going to make you feel like you’re on a “mini-break”.  You will start to feel like you’re on a holiday where all you have to do is slip back into your natural rhythms.  And, the really important things will get done, with less fuss than ever before.
    2. Sleep: When was the last time you slept in during the week?  Maybe when you were ill or on holidays?  Give yourself a few mornings where you give yourself permission to sleep until you “can’t sleep no more”!  Why?  When you feel burned out, like every cell in your body and brain are aching, you need to rest.  Reschedule sessions for a few weeks.  If you feel you can’t do this, it’s a huge sign you need to stop and take a step back.
    3. Waste your time: Do one thing a week that you don’t normally do because, “I haven’t got time…I’m too busy…It’s not really that important to me…” What would it be like if you did download a book off iTunes and just read it all in one sitting?  What movie have you really wanted to see, but not “got around to”?  Why is “wasting time” so important? It brings you back to what’s really important to you.  It helps you reconnect with who you are.  It softens you and allows your mind, body and spirit to rebalance and refresh.
    4. Gratitude: When you’re so wrapped up in working, it can be really hard to see what’s going on outside. Taking time to express your gratitude to everyone around you is a grounding process. Sending thank-you cards, calling your favourite clients to say, “I really appreciate your support and loyalty”, taking your staff out for a surprise lunch.
    5. Being kind to yourself: As a Fitness industry leader, your “default switch” is usually set to, “push on, chin up, and keep going!” But now is the time to stop and change the switch.  Now is the time to adopt a new attitude; to be generous and kind to you.  If your body is tired and aching from being burned-out, stop working out every day.  If your mind is feeling fried from taking on too much, let go and give yourself permission to say “no”.

Keep in mind that burnout is usually temporary.  It’s a sign that change is needed before you can move forward.  Giving yourself permission to say, “I’m burned out and going to look after myself” isn’t a sign of weakness.  And the best thing about accepting that you’re burned out?  It allows you to open your heart and mind as you start treating yourself with more compassion and love.
