#Filex2017 Insights From Sean L’Estrange a PT Business Owner

I attended the business summit this year because JT and Chantal were hosting. I consider them my teammates through Active Management and the Industry Leaders Roundtable and I wanted to support them. I knew they would be entertaining and great hosts.

I saw the line up from the US and after listening to the speakers on the Fitness Business Podcast, I was impressed enough and wanted to see them in person. I was NOT disappointed.

The Business Summit is also a good opportunity to network with fellow professionals and suppliers. The post summit drinks made this really relaxing and natural.

My three takeaways:

  • Bill McBride giving an example of scripted customer service. He asked the question “would you talk to your mate like that?”. It’s a really good reminder to treat EVERYONE with respect in a way THEY would like to be treated.
  • Michelle Segar illustrating convincingly how important it is to focus on how people FEEL rather than results. After running a “weight loss” challenge and noticing disappointment when clients did not achieve their goal result, I can see how demotivating these unrealistic desires can be. In fact, our winner commented on how she was FEELING before she commented on the numbers.
  • Luke Carlson did a great job reinforcing how important it is to have the right people on the bus which is most important. The next step is getting the right person in the right seat. LOVED IT!
