JT’s Message: The Strength of Weight Training!
Last month, I had a bone density test. The reason for the test was that I have been on some medication for over 18 months that effects bone density. The doctors were expecting that my results would place me in high risk of osteoporosis.
To be honest, I was worried!
Well, this was the first test in my life that I passed with flying colours. I was so far above average that I almost was off the scale. The doctor’s were amazed that after 18 months I was at no risk! And they wanted to know why.
The answer . . . strength training! There was no question in their mind that my results were directly attributed to the fact that I regularly strength. I don’t strength train to go massive, I do it to keep healthy and these results are a positive reinforcement for my training.
If you don’t want to do strength training, start making time now for being ill in the future! If you are not strength training regularly – start now!

Interview Questions #3
Motivation for work is always a challenge with our employees. Wouldn’t it be nice to have an idea of what motivates staff before you even employ them! Here are some questions you may like to include in your interview to check on their motivation:
- What, in your opinion, is success?
- What motivates you to do your best?
- How can you tell when you’ve done a good job?
- Name three things that motivate you (money, recognition, etc).
- How do you like to be recognized for doing a good job?
- Tell me something a former boss did to reward you for doing a good job.
- One of the requirements for this position is that the individual be a self-starter. Give me an example of your ability to be a self-starter.
- How do you motivate yourself to complete unpleasant assignments?
The First PT Round Table!
Last month, we held the first PT Round Table and what a success it was. We covered lots of issues and helped work on a sales process, communicating with GP’s, non-traditional marketing approaches, employment practices and determined future meeting dates and venues. The feedback from the group was awesome with many saying not only did they learn lots but found it very motivating.
If you are a personal trainer and interested in joining one of our PT Round Tables please email Justin now: jt@activemgmt.com.au.
We are aiming for 12 personal trainers to join this group and then we’ll establish up to more PT Round Tables.
Book Review: Customer satisfaction is Worthless, Customer Loyalty is Priceless by Jefferey Gitomer
WOW! This is an in face book on what you need to do improve customer service in your business. It is easy to read with big writing and clear points to improve. His writing style is very in face but he really nails down what you need to do! For example from page 41:
“Let’s define your customer . . . overbearing, demanding, cheap, past due, back stabbing, wolf crying, disloyal and lying but one more thing . . .PAY CHEQUE. The president, CEO, or owner of your company doe not pay you. He or she is just a conduit for funds. The customer pays you! It’s not your boss you need to be afraid to make angry – its your customer!”
There are some some self-evaluation checklists, stories of great service, stories of poor service and lots of ideas to knock the socks off your members, clients and customers! I would suggest you read it or even delegate the responsibility of developing loyal customers to your service or front desk manager and have them read the book! To get you copy click here.
Do you have an E-Mail policy in your business?
Published: August 04, 2005 on E-Markeker Daily.
Ten years ago, most workers didn't have an e-mail address and didn't have to read e-mail. Today, e-mail is an essential work skill—and a survey finds that poorly written messages are a waste of time for the people who have to read them.
According to a recent survey from Information Mapping Inc. (IMI), 80% of today's office workers say e-mail writing skills are "extremely" or "very important" to the effectiveness of doing their jobs. But more worrying is the time spent on email:

Sloppily written e-mails waste time. When asked how much time during an average day was wasted reading ineffectively written e-mails, more than 40% said the time loss was more than 30 minutes a day.

An AOL study found that workers are constantly checking personal e-mail on the job, too.

Working with your designers – “Argh!”
We all get caught up in the excitement that comes after you decide to have a new marketing piece designed for your company, product or service, or campaign. It’s so easy to get swept away imagining the impact. However, the jubilation often deflates when we jump into the process of finding, hiring, and managing a designer or design team.
Let’s face it, having their creativity molded into a concept that meets your needs is difficult and can be overwhelming. On the one hand, you want to give them free reign to be able to turn those creative juices into something powerful. On the other hand, you’re not creating an art piece to win awards, but turning a marketing concept into something that speaks to your audience and increases sales. If you would like a guide of 3 steps to help achieve your goals when working with a designer, email Justin.
