In this month’s edition:
Welcome to new subscribers!
After Filex and IHRSA there could be many new subscribers to the Active Management E-news. To you, welcome! To old subscribers, I am back on deck with enthusiasm and motivation to present you lots of bit size information to help your business prosper!
What a holiday!
Now I know why we work so hard . . . to have a holiday! I had a wonderful break in Mexico and what a wonderful country. The Mayan civilization I found fascinating and boy were they clever people. You can see this unbelievable temple at Chichen Itza they built without beasts of burden or the wheel!

But one highlight was swimming for an hour with dolphins. While this is not a great shot, it is me receiving a ‘foot push’ from 2 dolphins. Way Cool!

Anyway back to work . . .
Report on IHRSA
IHRSA this year was an interesting event. The fact it was held in Vegas meant way too much activity in the evenings, so networking was left to the day time. As a result, I did not get to catch up with all the Aussies over there.
The key note presentations were AWESOME. I have to admit I was a tad cynical in advance of Bill Clinton’s address. But he was great. An unbelievably intelligent man who knows so much information – I now can see what Hillary and Monica see in him (that was a joke to my US friends!)
Here is what Paul Richards from Club Physical, New Zealand had to say:
Clinton spoke about the need to influence people positively. “If enough people agree with you, anybody in the world can have a huge impact. The internet has empowered people to be able to do this”. He also spoke about how although USA leads the world in healthcare dollar spending a massive 16% of its income on this; BUT it ranks a dismal 37th for healthcare quality in the world!
Clinton blames this on the insurance companies who have muscled in with controls and influence within the system. For example he says, 34% of the funds are sunk into red tape, administration costs and alike. “Childhood obesity for example is a self inflicted wound. Incredibly our funding systems don’t pay to help people ‘stay well’, but is more easily obtainable once a person already has diabetes.”
“Increasing obesity alone has lead to a 27% increase in health spending over the last six years. Meanwhile 47% of the average American food budget is spent on fast food”.
Key notes were given by Jim Collins and Ken Blanchard, and feature presentations given by Deepak Chopra, Dr. Stephen C. Lundin, and Steven N. Blair, P.E.D. All very insightful and convention highlights.
Nearly 200 other educational and networking sessions were held but from these nothing truly stood out. In deed, the sessions reinforced what a wonderful job we are doing in Australia with our industry.
Report on Filex
I know I am biased but having a short time between IHRSA and Filex, I am pleased to say I believe we are blessed with a far superior conference in a beautiful city! This year our overseas speakers excelled: Joe Cirulli, Shawn Stewart, Geoff Dyer, Casey Conrad and a cameo from Victor Brick! To them we thank them VERY much.
There was way too much to cover in this short e-news but for those who did not attend, I suggest you purchase CD’s of the great sessions. To buy the recorded sessions, you need to get in contact with Conference Capture. Their details are:

A general affliction for many people is a disease called TFI – Total Failure to Implement! To help you implement your ideas from Filex or any conference you attend try these simple steps:
- Write a brief list of ALL your ideas
- Prioritise them
- Share them with your Team and ask for help
- See if there are any Champions on the Team who will assist you
- Set time lines together
- Have a certain point you must reach with every project before you move on to the next – ideally completion!
- Ensure every project has been completed and evaluated by your time line
If you would like help in staying on track with your ideas, email Justin and he can begin a mentoring program with you to personal and business success.

This is a great book that tells you HOW to spread the word of your business. There are lots of ‘sneezers’ that you can tap into within your business. You just need to make sure you are tapping into the right ones!
What is great is that Godin steps your through the process for creating your own Ideavirus. This will help you stand out from the crowd and avoid more traditional marketing.
