Turning Ideas into Actions – Business Tips for Personal Trainers

Goal Setting Process

Turning ideas into actions has got to be one of the most challenging and defining tasks of a business owner. Its also what separates the good from the great.

Chances are, most of us have had some pretty damn good ideas at some stage throughout our careers.  Ideas that are ground breaking, game changing and money making.

But the tough reality is, only a tiny percentage of those ideas actually turn into reality.  Why?  Because regardless of how great we are at multi-tasking, somehow, jobs, tasks, things, bits, pieces and life – gets in the way.  And those grand ideas get shuffled to the bottom of the to-do list.

So if you are ready to take control and turn your ripper idea into action, then you’ve come to the right place!  Here are some tips to make it happen:

1. Write down your IDEA

What is your idea?  Describe it in one sentence.  eg: Create an Exercise Awareness Program for School Students.

2. Commit to a Timeline

When must you achieve this by? What time based milestones must you reach along the way in order to achieve it?

3. Set a task / action list

What steps do you need to complete to achieve your goal?  Get detailed in this section.  Include time goals for each action and be specific.

4. Roadblocks

List any potential roadblocks that might slow you down in executing this idea  Write down any distractions that might crop up.

This section is essential.  One of the biggest ‘stoppers’ of turning ideas into actions, are roadblocks or distractions.  When one of these, or in-fact, an opportunity, arises within the timeline of reaching your goal or action, then ask yourself:

Does this align with my IDEA?  Will this slow me down?  Will this take me off track?  Do I need to do this?

5.  Get Accountable

Tell a business partner, friend, family member, or business coach what you are setting out to achieve.  Share with them your IDEA and explain to them why its important to you to achieve this and what timeframe you have set yourself.  Commit to updating them on your progress at specific milestones throughout the process.

Each of these steps are essential in the process of Turning Ideas into Actions.  Set yourself apart from the crowd.  Don’t spend another minute thinking about it.
