IHRSA 2017 Learnings From Angus & Leanne Campbell of New Zealand

IHRSA 2017

After more than 20 years in the fitness industry this was our first visit to IHRSA. Conventions like this always provide great insights into the current and future trends of the industry. My three top take home tips include:

1. Customer expectations are greater than ever

With such a strong online environment customer expectations are high and to survive in the current market place you have to be in tune with your customers and provide them with a high level of service. A customer service strategy must be part of your business model.

2. Embrace technology

Like it or not technology is transforming our industry as it has with many others. You must assess and use technology to your advantage in your business. (But do not substitute customer service with technology).

3. Differentiate

To attract customers from your competition or in fact into the industry you must be able to differentiate yourself from your competitors. We have more resources available now than ever so utilise these resources to offer a unique product and service offering.

Summary

IHRSA is an inspirational event and as well as these take home ideas we also had the opportunity to network and meet a wide range of people to help grow our business. See you in San Diego 2018.

Active Management Note

Thanks Angus and Leanne Campbell for your contribution as a guest blogger on the IHRSA Conference 2017. They were both exploring new opportunities at the conference. Here is Leanne & Angus with Chantal from the Fitness Business Podcast and myself at Soul Cycle in Downtown LA.
