Jen Dugard Shares Why Fitness Australia AusREPs Should Vote For Her

Why should you vote for Jen Dugard as a AusREP Member for Fitness Australia?

When you see something you want to change what do you do?  When you feel a calling how do you respond?

Its often all too easy to think we alone are too small or something is much bigger than us, that we are not worthy enough to make a contribution or that whatever we can do won’t be enough anyway.  I have this exact conversation with my kids all the time. I talk to them about how even the smallest of changes added up over time create big change.  I talk to them about how bringing lots of people together who’s individual voice’s seem small can cast a ripple of change that becomes louder and louder.  And the fact that I am having this conversation with them, the most important people in my life, means that I am 100% commit to living in this way and leading by example.

When I see an opportunity that calls, even if I feel a little out of my comfort zone I have to listen to my gut and step into the unknown.  I know that in getting a little uncomfortable in life some of the very best things happen and most impactful changes can occur.

And so, I am sitting with my name up for election on the Fitness Australia Board of Directors alongside some absolutely amazing humans that offer incredible experience and value  – I’m comfortably uncomfortable, quietly excited and ready to rise to the challenge.  I thought I’d share a few thoughts around my what and why.

I have been in the fitness industry for over 13years and gained a wealth of experience as a Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Trainer and most recently Educator and Presenter.  I’ve worked in a big box gym, in small studios, built and sold an outdoor fitness business and evolved the Body Beyond Baby brand into something new and different within the industry that ‘s foundations are laid on the concept of education and collaboration.

I have years of experience and learning’s to offer both in the fitness and in the business space, but if I am being completely honest that isn’t what I see as being the most important aspect of being elected onto the board of directors.

I am a huge advocate for positive change, for ideas but most importantly for action.   My vision for the future of our industry see’s more Australian’s more active more often and better looked after by our Fitness Professionals.   I see a huge opportunity for collaboration between those that choose to specialize in special populations and those that work mostly with our general population.  I see a world where there is no need to be threatened by competition because there are so many people that need helping and the more that we move as one in this the better.

It does mean that we are calling our whole industry to a higher standard.  That those Fitness Professionals who choose not to up-skill, hold correct insurances and licenses begin to recognize the absolute need for this and correct their course or who are are bit by bit pushed out of the picture ensuring all Australians are looked after in the best possible way. Always.

I believe that we, as an industry need to come together to gain further respect of allied health and medical professionals and it is only when we raise to a higher standard that we will demand the respect for this.  We need this collaboration to ensure our members and clients are looked after and we stick within our scope of practice.

I see so much potential and I am excited.  I spend many of my days talking with and educating Fitness Professionals, engaged in healthy activities with my children on a grass roots level and helping small fitness business owners to brain storm, reflect upon and improve what they offer and how they do it for their own wellbeing alongside that of their clients.

I am one of you and I would be humbled and proud to stand as your representative within the board of Fitness Australia and truly appreciate your support should you feel I am the right person to fulfill this role.
