The Role

The Communications Manager will work closely with the Marketing and Strategy team to develop, position and manage Belgravia Leisure’s image and reputation to internal and external stakeholders.

This position will be responsible for managing the communications function to communicate key messages to defined target audiences to establish goodwill and understanding between the company and its stakeholders. This is more than just generating positive coverage through effective media relations with equal focus given to relevant content support of business development and the executive as well partnering closely with People and Culture to optimise internal communications.

Willingness to travel interstate, attend various events and flexibility to accommodate early mornings, late evenings and some weekend work will be advantageous.

About you

Your previous experience in a similar role will be highly desired. Your ability to design, develop and implement communication strategies that protect our brand will be an essential component of this role. You will be required to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders in relation to communication and business development initiatives.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Familiarity with the WH&S legislative guidelines
  • At least 3 years PR experience with a successful track record
  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations or journalism
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Current CPR
  • Current First Aid Certificate (Workplace Level 2)

DESIRABLE:

  • Member PRIA or AMI
  • Experience as a journalist
  • Experience working with Local Government
  • Experience in providing advice on public relations strategies and public awareness campaigns
  • Established media contacts and networks

Key Accountability

  • Design and implement a Communications Strategy that promotes, protects and builds on Belgravia Leisure’s reputation and ensures alignment with strategies and priorities across both business, consumer and staff
  • Assist in the development and implementation of communications strategies for key issues that can affect Belgravia Leisure’s image
  • Manage the internal press house for Belgravia Leisure and ensure quality media management
  • Draft written materials for media releases, public awareness campaigns, speeches and respond to media enquiries
  • Provide a core writing function for Business Development supporting tender submissions and innovative product offerings
  • Produce effective and relevant content for Belgravia Leisure’s Executive team
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders in relation to communication and business development initiatives
  • Assist with the development of communications policies and plans for internal and external communications
  • Lead, develop and coach the performance of the Copywriter to plan to manage to deliver a range of communications activities to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to the executive and board on communications strategies
