Fitness Industry Technology Summit 2019 Insights | Maddi Kimber from Lift Brands

Maddi KimberToday we hear from Maddi Kimber!

What did you love or enjoy most from your #FITS2019 experience?

Katie from Facebook was the stand-out presentation for me – understanding the data and insights of what people are actually talking about and care about (and their attention span to do so!) helps us as marketers shape our message and actually make sure we are giving people valuable information and keeping them engaged.

What was your #1 insight or ‘ah ha’ moment for #FITS2019?

There was a great analogy on planes returning from WW2. The important thing to look for wasn’t the damage on the returning planes, it was the ones that didn’t return and the inference on that.
We have so much data on our existing members and enquiries, but gaps on who isn’t enquiring or actively exercising, and understanding that missing data is a key piece.

What were 3 ideas you want to turn from ideas into actions?

  • ‘Message first’ creatives and GIFs
  • Analysing our data to see not who our members are, but who they aren’t and making a plan based on how to cater and broaden our targeting based on that
  • Voice, and dominating that space while the opportunity exists

Why should someone attend #FITS2020?

You’re surrounded by people in the exact same industry as you, with shared pain points, challenges and goals. Tech and digital isn’t one size fits all and every industry will have a vastly different experience/need for it. Just because a piece of tech or a digital capability exists, doesn’t mean it is right for our business or even our industry. Having such a ‘fitness specific’ focus helped cut through the ever-growing tech world to hone in on key areas that have tangible results.
