Following rapid American growth, TrainAway now looks to connect travellers and gyms in Australia

Following a period of rapid growth in Europe and North America, TrainAway is now focused on helping the many great fitness facilities in Australia attract and benefit from the millions of fitness travellers visiting Australia every year.

TrainAway, a digital platform giving travellers access to fitness clubs on a pay-as-you-train basis, now has over 1,200 clubs in the network, covering much of the USA, Canada, Europe and key destinations in South America. Based around a simple, user-friendly app, users can buy gym day passes in over 600 cities across 40 countries without needing any paid subscription or membership. Popular locations include New York, Paris, Rome, Los Angeles and Barcelona.

The popularity of Australia as a tourism destination and the strength of the fitness culture and industry make it a natural next step.

TrainAway co-founder Kenn Gudbergsen is looking forward to this next step. “I’m always overwhelmed by the passion and commitment of Australians to fitness, and of the professionalism of everyone within the industry. Our users have been asking us to improve coverage in Australia for some time, so I’m hugely excited to form some great, lasting partnerships.”

TrainAway is the digital partner for the IHRSA Passport Program, a global fitness travel scheme where members of participating clubs can get discounted access to other clubs in the program. Launched in January, the scheme already has 1,000 clubs on board, and gives clubs the chance to offer their members a convenient training option when travelling, by using TrainAway to access a huge range of gyms across the world.

TrainAway offers a win-win situation for fitness clubs, by offering a valued benefit to members when they travel, as well as an easy way to increase monthly revenues through day pass sales to travellers. TrainAway is free to join, requires no integration or administration and is designed to expand the options of the existing fitness industry – not compete with it.

“We want to work with the fantastic fitness clubs in Australia to give the thousands of fitness travellers arriving every day the opportunity to access high quality fitness facilities,” says Gudbergsen. “At the same time, our goal is to make it as easy as possible for Australians to easily get into a gym, wherever they are in the world, through TrainAway.”

TrainAway co-founder Kenn Gudbergsen will be in Australia during the end of July and beginning of August, and can be reached at kg@trainaway.fit to arrange a meeting. For more information on TrainAway or to become a partner, visit www.trainaway.fit.
